Pasadena Showcase House

I witnessed over 30,000 people stroll through my 5 rooms of wonder, when several with tears in their eyes expressed their sentimental childhood memories and how they wished they had a place like this in their home to play with their family.

Ten years ago I started a group for interior designers we call DNA, Design Network Group. One day, my colleague, John Cole invited me to meet the Pasadena Showcase design committee at the walk through, for that year’s design house. It was like a contest as we submitted our ideas on how we would design a particular space. Immediately, I spun a fantasy to create a children’s theater and arts wing, submitted my sketches, and I won! We were open for a several weeks and I witnessed over 30,000 people stroll through my 5 rooms of wonder.  Several people, with tears in their eyes, shared their sentimental childhood memories and how they wished they had a place like this in their home to play with their family. It was a very gratifying experience that launched my family design specialty.  All proceeds benefited the children’s music programs at the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
